The DownTag
The DownTag makes it easy for emergency responders to recognize Downtag members and contact our emergency operations center for life-saving medical history information, as well as both identification and emergency contact information. The DownTag is an identification tag (similar in size and shape to a "dog tag") provided to every Downtag client upon registration. The client's basic information (name and date of birth), Downtag member identification number, basic emergency medical information (blood type, current allergies, and major medical condition[s]) and a phone-number to the DownTag Dispatch Center are laser engraved on the DownTag. Contacting our emergency operations center allows medical and other rescue personnel to gain access to your full medical history, information about who you want contacted in the event of an emergency, advanced directives, etc.

Emergency Information Database
Downtag's Emergency Information Database (EID) utilizes Microsoft's® HealthVault platform to provide an easy to setup, navigate, and update emergency information file that our dispatchers use to provide emergency responders with your most vital of information when it's needed most. Your emergency information file (EIF) is a single file containing all of the pertinent information needed in case of an emergency, allowing for (1) immediate identification, (2) immediate notification to your friends and/or family, and (3) rapid and focused medical treatment based on the your personal medical history and needs.
Although neither Downtag nor Microsoft® is legally required to be HIPAA Compliant, we both consider the security of your information a very serious matter. As such, we have both taken it upon ourselves to not only meet the minimum requirements set forth by HIPAA regulations but considerably exceed them!

Our proprietary Trip Planning and Management System (TPAMS) makes it easy to plan trips of any length and provides non-intrusive supervision throughout the trip to ensure every client reaches their destination safely. The TPAMS allows Downtag to respond to client emergencies with unprecedented speed and efficiency.

Emergency Operations Center
Downtag's Emergency Operations Center is the linking aspect between TPAMS and our Emergency Medical Records Database. Staffed 24 hours a day, our dispatchers monitor all ongoing trips entered into TPAMS and respond to client emergencies by providing the client's critical medical information to emergency medical personnel and hospital staff, and by immediately contacting our client's emergency contacts regarding the accident.

Client Security
Downtag considers the security of our clients' information to be just as important as their personal safety. Our clients' information is stored in a secure, undisclosed location and protected by HIPAA-certification. No one will be able to access our clients' information unless it is requested by medical personnel during a genuine emergency.
